I recently started as an assistant professor in the Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland, College Park. As part of my extension duties, I am serving as Maryland’s Pesticide Safety Education Program Coordinator. This involves providing training materials, recertification credits, and pesticide updates to many of the commercial and private pesticide applicators in the state.
To share proposed and upcoming changes in pesticide regulation, I have begun a monthly newsletter. The newsletter largely focuses on regulations put forth by federal agencies, mainly the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Services (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service). These agencies administer laws that govern pesticide registration, use, and safety (human and ecological).
If you would like to receive the newsletter, please reach out to me <nkrish@umd.edu> and I will add you to the mailing list. I have attached the February and March 2023 newsletters for your perusal.
